At Special Education Consulting and Advocacy, LLC, our mission is to provide the best special education services to students with diverse needs of all ages across the country. For us at SECA, we believe in maximizing the potential of students with diverse needs.
In an ideal world, advocates wouldn’t be needed, IEP teams would be collaborative and the IEP team would always work for the best opportunities for students.
In an ideal world, 1:1 supplemental teaching wouldn’t be needed. Teachers would be able to focus on instruction, focus on student growth, and schools would have their student population all passing and excelling on performance measures.
In an ideal world, parents would be given all information and support within the special education process. While it is true there is a wealth of information on the internet, there is an expectation placed on the parent to conduct legal research. Parents should feel supported, be provided parent friendly information, and know the questions to ask throughout the special education process.
In an ideal world, administrators would know how to support their special education staff to support their goals of maximizing student growth. Administrators would understand teacher efficacy as a number 1 priority and focus to increase student growth and achievement and be able to identify strategies to support teacher efficacy in their departments.
In an ideal world, special education teachers wouldn’t have the highest attrition rates of all teachers and they would feel supported to engage in their highest calling: teaching. With SPED teachers leaving at higher rates than Gen Ed, increased expectations on teachers, cultural differences that are increasing the pressure on teachers, special education has shifted the focus away from teaching.
But education is broken and it is getting worse by the minute.
Performance is decreasing nationally, and our students with special needs have the lowest scores historically in all metrics. SECA exists to support in all these areas in order to shift the education field back to educating students with special needs.
We review the current IEP and evaluation documents. We then set up a time to meet with you via Google Meet to discuss our findings and discuss an action plan.

Dr. Dawn Tarasyuk travels across the globe speaking on several current and shifts in special education. Her publications include the new SECA Model of special education curriculum which shifts curriculum planning for special education, trends in special education, maximizing efficacy in special education, and motivation in developing the best special education programs possible.
Dr. Dawn Tarasyuk presents the new 3 step model of curriculum planning. The beauty of special education is the ability to try different things to work for individual students and to maximize learning. In this presentation, Dr. Dawn Tarasyuk takes participants on a journey to change thinking about curriculum, defining the distinctions between general and special education curriculum and resources, and how to build a program in special education curriculum that teachers love!
Special Education Departments love what they do and yearn for the "A-Ha" moments from our students. However, so often, compliance has become such a foundation to our practice, that we can mitigate the beauty of instructional practice in our field. Dr. Dawn will help participants journey back into the WOW of special education and assist participants in bringing vision back to the special education department.
With special education attrition rates at an all time high, recruitment a constant challenge and teacher efficacy as the number one contributor to student outcomes (AYP, etc), Dr. Dawn will take participants on a journey to bring the love of special education back to your departments. In this presentation, she discusses the current trends in special education teacher shortages, how to help mitigate them, and integrate the maximization of teacher efficacy back into special education.
We love our clients! If you call during the day, often we are in meetings, assisting other parents, and training district staff. Please leave a message or go to our "See Our Prices!" to create an account. We will get back to you within 48 hours.
